How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Since August 2009
Was there a moment, or maybe a WOD (or its aftermath), when you realized you understood what CrossFit was about? There are a lot of memorable wods in crossfit but for me personally crossfit is about finishing what is difficult and doing the best you can do but mostly it is about the people and their support for each other when it is difficult.
How has CrossFit impacted your life outside the box? Without a doubt crossfit has had a huge impact on my life and I have made a lot of changes as a result of crossfit. ?I gave up my job to have more time for crossfit and to learn to be a better coach of crossfit.I have always had the ability for sports but until crossfit entered my life I had never been referred to as an athlete, that felt good for me, I feel like an achiever and it makes me always want to do better and do more.
Do you monitor your diet? If so, when did you begin to look at nutrition as part of your training? Could you describe a typical training meal and a typical cheat meal?
Yes I monitor my diet. Eating right has always been a big part of my life. I follow the zone diet pretty religiously and paleo when possible or when I need to lean up. I have learnt a lot about nutrition since I started crossfit and my recovery meal after a wod is the most important for my training. A typical training meal for me would be chicken , avocado , vegies or salad heaps of it
Protein 30%, Fats 30%, Carbs 40%
A cheat meal for me which would be once a week would most likely be pizza and a glass of wine – I love it!! A cheat meal for me is not really about the food but it is more for my head and to keep things a little relaxed. It is important to keep in mind that you can’t out train a shitty lifestyle.
Do you ever get discouraged or burned out? How do you overcome that? . Of course the answer is yes, we all feel this way from time about all aspects of our lives. I try to listen to my body if I am absolutely physically exhausted or very tired I miss a session rest is the only thing to fix that. However if it is a mind thing I find training helps deal with that, That one hour is time for yourself and often all I need to sort things out
Who in the CrossFit community inspires you and why? I really admire Annie Thorisdottir (2nd last at year games), without a doubt she is one of the best crossfitters in the world, she is so young and her ability is unbeieivable, I am sure I just wish I was her or her age again. Of course Matt Swift ” The Godfather” of crossfit, sometimes it is a different person every day, because I think thats what crossfit does it brings out the best in people and you cant help but admire that
Which pr—for a WOD or lift—are you most proud of and why? I achieved a 62.5kg squat clean on my first day of training at Crossfit Sunshine Coast, it was a big deal for me to crack the 60 mark and Lees coaching was a big part of that achievement, I knew then that I had made the right choice in where to do crossfit.

Awesome reading that Sue. Your are a big inspiration to me m8. You’re so relaxed in real life but during a workout your focus becomes absolute and your dedication is inspiring. I love being coached by you as you always teach me that little something extra, especially stretches.
